Portlandia Remodeling, Restoration & Home Maintenance
Many of the homes we work on were built between 1900 and 1950 and require a different approach than modern construction. From restoring original doors and woodwork to building custom cabinetry, remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, and tackling overdue repairs, we help Portland homeowners preserve and improve the homes they love.
What Makes Portland Homes Different
Many Portland homes were built long before modern building materials and construction methods became common. Original doors, windows, trim, plaster walls, and aging infrastructure often require thoughtful repairs and restoration rather than simple replacement. Our experience working in Portland's historic homes helps us identify practical solutions that preserve character while improving function and reliability.
About Me
As the owner of a 1911 Portland Four-Square home, I understand the unique challenges that come with maintaining and restoring older homes. From original woodwork and historic doors to custom built-ins, remodeling projects, and ongoing maintenance, I bring the same attention to detail and respect for craftsmanship to every project. My goal is simple: provide quality workmanship, honest communication, and solutions that stand the test of time.
I know how frustrating it is to fall behind on maintaining your home investment. Let’s work together on your next project.

FAQs
Do you also do smaller handyman jobs, or just remodels?
Both. I offer a full range of handyman services alongside remodeling — floors, walls, ceilings, doors and windows, garage upgrades, deck and fence work, bathroom repairs, and more. No job is too small. The difference is that you're getting a licensed general contractor doing the work, not an unlicensed handyman.
What's the difference between a handyman and a general contractor?
A handyman typically handles smaller repairs and maintenance tasks but may not be licensed or insured for larger scopes of work. A general contractor is licensed by the state, bonded, and insured — and can legally take on a wider range of projects including remodels, structural work, and jobs that require permits. At Portlandia Remodeling & Home Maintenance, I'm a licensed Oregon general contractor (CCB# 219486) who also does handyman-scale work. You get the reliability and accountability of a licensed contractor for jobs of any size.
Can you work on older Portland homes?
Absolutely — it's actually one of my favorite types of work. I own a 1911 Portland Four-Square myself, so I understand the quirks and craftsmanship that come with early 1900s homes better than most. I've done built-ins, custom woodwork, and remodels in older Portland homes and take a lot of pride in that work.
Do you do bathroom remodels in older Portland homes?
Yes, and it's some of my favorite work. Older Portland homes — especially those built in the early 1900s — have their own set of quirks, from non-standard dimensions to original tile and plaster walls. As a Portland homeowner myself (I own a 1911 Four-Square), I know how to work with these homes rather than against them. I'm also a Certified Lead-Based Paint Renovation Contractor (LBPR), which is required for remodel work on homes built before 1978.
